- 7 Jersey Road, Stanley, Falkland Islands
The small, sheltered bay with its white sand beach is the breeding site for Magellanic penguins, also known as Jackass because of their braying sounds.
Other birdlife includes black-crowned night-herons, oystercatchers, long-tailed meadowlark, two-banded plovers, Falklands flightless steamer duck, Upland and kelp geese. Sea lions and porpoises can occasionally be sighted.
Your guide will accompany you on the walk around the bay to nearby Ordnance Point where there are the remains of World War Two guns and great views of the outer harbour and entrance to Stanley Harbour with the colourful roofs of the town in the distance.
Recommended add-on: Continue to Yorke Bay to visit the Gentoo Penguins on the beautiful sands.
Your driver/guide is a well-informed Islander who is passionate about the Falklands, the wildlife and our Islands life-style.
